Republic of the Eos Collective

The Republic of the Eos Collective was a hegemonic nation-state encompassing the envelope of the continent of Eos. Established in the early 20th century after the Technology Era, the Eos Collective became a formidable global superpower due to rapid domination in air and naval superiority over its counterparts. By the end of the 22nd century, the Eos Collective was the most populous nation-state in all of Vex, with more than 2 billion citizens. The nation-state, along with the concept of nation-states altogether, dissolved in the mid 23rd century, in the year 2252, amidst the unprecedented pressure imposed on nation-states by gigacorps. The wealthiest, most powerful, and most populous city of the Eos Collective was its capital city, Velv, located in the state of Paragus. The City of Velv, with over 270,000 square kilometers of land, peaked at around 425 million inhabitants shortly before it became a MegaRegion due to urban agglomeration and the Post-Sovereign Economic Phase (PSEP).

History

Geography

The Eos Collective was the continent of Eos' second-largest nation-state by total land area, behind its neighbor and adversary Acarius. The 7 states of the Eos Collective and its smaller land constituents occupied a combined area of 2,700,868 square kilometers. The present-day MegaRegion of Velv is approximately 10% of the Eos Collective's land mass. The remaining population of the former Eos Collective remained fragmented and immigrated away from the area and even the continent, moving to every corner of Vex.

States of the Eos Collective

The Eos Collective was divided into seven administrative states prior to the collapse of global nation-state sovereignty. These states were geopolitical subdivisions with independent economic zones, internal legislative bodies, and semi-autonomous military-industrial frameworks — all of which were later absorbed or dismantled by emerging gigacorps in the late 23rd century. Remnants of their nomenclature can seldom be found in their modern counterparts.

Rise to Power

Following the Industrial Revolution, the Eos Collective transformed from a modest regional entity into a technological and military titan. The nation's remarkable advancements in aeronautics, naval warfare, and resource management allowed it to dominate rival powers across the globe. Its mastery of these fields earned it control over critical shipping lanes, vital resources, and military strategies, cementing its place as a formidable empire on the world stage.

The Eos Collective's burgeoning growth also enabled its population to explode. At the peak of its power, the Eos Collective boasted a population exceeding 2 billion, making it the largest and most populous nation-state in all of Vex. Its citizens enjoyed substantial technological advances, economic prosperity, and military protection under the highly centralized government. However, these advantages came at a cost, with the collective living under a corporatized system that increasingly blurred the lines between government and corporate power.
